Description
Summary
Coordinates the day-to-day student career services support activities and programs of the institution. Represents and promotes the component and its graduates to employers in the community and collaborates with University career service organizations. Oversees direct career preparation advisement to students, graduates, and members of the related community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives, to assist prospective graduates with career planning, resume preparation and professional conduct.
- Provides job search mentorship and advocacy, and other related services to graduating students.
- Collaborates with employers suited to the specified college or school to assist in their recruitment efforts and to promote the employment of the school's or college's graduates and students.
- Oversees the provision of coaching, guidance and mentorship to students and graduates that are applying for positions, fellowships, and externships within their specialty.
- Provides leadership to the school or college administration, faculty, and staff in the design and implementation of creative programs that connect students with internships or other learning opportunities within their specialty.
- Administers and supervises on-campus recruiting efforts, employer outreach and development.
- Plans, schedules, and delivers presentations on career and employer development, career skills, and career opportunities to university classes, departments, and the business community.
- Oversees materials in the career resource library; makes recommendations for purchases of books, software, videos, publications, and other career resource materials.
- Oversees the preparation of career preparation communications including brochures, pamphlets, and hand-outs on career preparation services for use by students and graduates; coordinates the preparation and distribution of publicity for career fairs, speakers, and other services.
- Oversees feedback mechanisms; maintains records and provides reports regarding student and alumni job placement and related activities for internal, external, and accreditation purposes.
- Collaborates with school's development office in the development of new and ongoing corporate relationships that involve corporate recruiters.
- Develops course work and teaches career skills courses and workshops to students and graduates.
- Serves as the community liaison and engages in outreach activities with faculty, students, and the business community; represents the institution at various community business meetings, committees, and task forces.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Master's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
