We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced academic leader to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Computational Science & Informatics.
Role Overview
The Dean will provide strategic leadership, academic oversight, and operational management for the faculty, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in computational sciences, informatics, or related fields, along with proven leadership in higher education. The Dean is the key link between the Vice President of Academics, department heads, faculty members, students, and external stakeholders, ensuring the faculty's continuous growth and relevance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Faculty Development
● Lead the growth and development of the faculty, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and student success.
● Drive faculty recruitment, mentorship, and professional development to enhance academic and research productivity.
● Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, industry partnerships, and global engagement to advance the faculty’s strategic objectives.
● Drive the development of new cutting-edge programs to guarantee the competitiveness of the Faculty for the data-driven future.
2. Academic Programs & Student Success
● Oversee curriculum development, accreditation, and continuous improvement of academic programs.
● Ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences, aligning programs with industry trends.
● Support student progress, retention, career planning, and professional development initiatives.
● Maintain academic integrity, assessment standards, and quality assurance in collaboration with faculty and accreditation bodies.
3. Research & Innovation
● Promote research excellence, collaboration, and funding acquisition for faculty research projects.
● Strengthen industry engagement to drive applied research, innovation, and commercialization.
● Supervise college research centre’s and partnerships with funding agencies and professional bodies.
● Support faculty in developing grant proposals and securing external research funding.
4. Resource & Financial Management
● Develop faculty budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
● Identify and pursue external funding opportunities, including grants and donor support.
● Oversee faculty productivity, performance evaluation, and compliance with institutional policies.
● Intentionally seek corporate partnerships and funding to support faculty initiatives and student development.
5. Representation & External Engagement
● Represent the faculty in university committees, professional boards, and accreditation bodies.
● Engage with industry leaders, alumni, and external stakeholders to enhance institutional reputation.
● Promote international collaborations, exchange programs, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
● Strengthen ties with professional organizations to facilitate faculty and student development.
6. Governance & Administration
● Ensure adherence to university policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory compliance.
● Track and report key performance metrics related to faculty progress and strategic initiatives.
● Support the university’s mission, values, and long-term vision through active participation in institutional planning.
● Supervise faculty performance, tenure evaluations, and faculty workload distribution. Qualifications & Experience
● PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
● Minimum 10 years of experience in academia, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (e.g., Head of Department, Associate Dean, or Dean).
● An intense research and publication record in computational sciences or informatics.
● Proven experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and academic quality assurance.
● Strong industry networks and a record of securing research funding.
● Demonstrated ability to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration.
