Role Summary
The Business Developer is responsible for driving the growth of the Fund Management Company by acquiring new clients, increasing Assets Under Management (AUM), and strengthening the company’s market presence. The role involves identifying business opportunities, promoting investment products, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring a strong pipeline of investors across individuals, institutions, and diaspora markets.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
• Identify, engage, and convert prospective clients to grow AUM.
• Promote the company’s investment products (fixed income, real estate funds, private equity, etc.).
• Conduct sales pitches, presentations, webinars, and investment sensitization engagements.
• Develop and implement sales strategies to meet monthly and quarterly targets.
Client Relationship Management
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and partners.
• Provide clients with timely investment updates, support, and guidance.
• Coordinate with compliance to ensure smooth onboarding and KYC/AML processing.
Market Research & Opportunities
• Conduct market intelligence on competitors, investor trends, and emerging sectors.
• Identify new business channels, including diaspora groups, SMEs, associations, cooperatives, and corporates.
• Recommend new product ideas and enhancements based on client needs.
Partnerships & Networking
• Support with the establish partnerships with banks, financial institutions, community groups, and corporate organizations.
• Represent the firm at investment forums, exhibitions, and industry events.
Reporting
• Maintain a structured sales pipeline and CRM database.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on prospects, conversions, and AUM growth.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
• 2–5 years’ experience in fund management, investment banking, pensions, banking, or insurance sales.
• Professional certifications (CISI, CFA Level I) are highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of investment products and financial markets.
• Excellent sales, networking, and negotiation skills, Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Self-driven, target-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• High professionalism, integrity, and client-service orientation.
• Track Record: Proven ability to originate, close, and manage significant investment mandates (multi-million-AUM) and demonstrably drive revenue growth.
• Market Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the Ghanaian and broader West African financial markets, including regulatory environment, investment products (equity, fixed income, real estate), and client landscape.
• Must be a self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently to achieve strategic goals
Compensation & Application
Highly competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus a substantial performance based bonus structure tied directly to net AUM growth, client acquisition targets, and net margin generation.
