The Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs (MOWAC) on Wednesday, called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to re-introduce the teaching of moral education in schools to provide the youth with the needed moral guidance for their proper development.
A statement issued and signed by Mrs Juliana Azumah-Mensah, the Sector Minister, said "The Ministry has observed with great concern the increasing rate of pornography and moral decadence among the youth in Ghana".
It appealed to parents, traditional leaders, churches, community and opinion leaders to take up the issue seriously by educating their children and community members on moral values to ensure that such immoral practices were nipped in the bud.
"The media, particularly the internet, is full of images of young Ghanaian men and women engaged in degrading pornographic activities. Young women are posing naked on the internet under the pretext of looking for partners, demeaning the dignity and sanctity of their womanhood, whilst others are hungry to do 'anything' to become popular actors and actresses" the statement noted.
