Seven villagers have been killed in tribal violence along Kenya's coast, the Red Cross said Wednesday.
The deaths on Tuesday occurred despite the presence of a 1,000-strong paramilitary police force that was posted to the Tana River region in September to halt clashes between the Pokomo and Orma ethnic groups.
Some 150 people have been shot, hacked and burnt to death in violence that erupted in August between the feuding farming communities.
Rights groups have criticised local politicians for stirring up tensions between the communities, who have fought for generations over land rights and access to water.
Inter-tribal violence and a secessionist movement have stoked fears that Kenya's coast will become violent during presidential election in March.
