Reggae artiste, Osagyefo has been awarded by the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Foundation (MMGF) for using his music to empower African unity and consciousness at the foundation’s awards Gala on Saturday, August 16.
The awards ceremony aimed at celebrating the enduring legacy of Marcus Garvey by honouring individuals who embody his ideals of unity, empowerment, and social justice.
Osagyefo, real name, Dennis Affram, was honoured known for his powerful, socially conscious music.
Osagyefo’s music aligns with ideals championed by Marcus Garvey, promoting universal love, African pride, and addressing pressing social issues.
His music has earned him international recognition for its commitment to using art as a voice for change and political awakening.
Osagyefo was the only musician honoured on the night, highlighting his role as a pillar in championing pan Africanism.
The award was presented to him by Naomi Wudasi, Chairperson of the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Foundation.
In his acceptance speech, Osagyefo expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the honour as a great motivation.
He acknowledged that the award signals the recognition his music has received not only locally but also from the global community, reinforcing his dedication to spreading messages that resonate universally.
Other award winners are Ubalda Mensah, an Advocate for Youth Empowerment and Girl Child Education, Mrs Worlase Fiagbedzi Afatsiawo of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Vanessa Louise Mixon Alawiye an Art Advocate, and Mrs Jahzara Agyemang, an Educator and Development Consultant.
