This renewed commitment follows a meeting between Cabinet Secretary H.E. Salim Mvurya and Herbert Mensah, President of Rugby Africa and Executive Board Member of World Rugby.

During the meeting, Mensah expressed strong optimism about Kenya’s rugby potential, praising the country's exceptional athletes and underscoring the need to address long-standing legacy matters. 

He emphasized the importance of close collaboration between Rugby Africa, World Rugby, and the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) to accelerate the sport’s growth.

Under the leadership of Chairperson Harriet Okach, the KRU has been working closely with the government to enhance governance structures and create lasting impact. 

This partnership has already produced positive outcomes, with Mensah committing to stage more tournaments in Kenya.

The attendance of Nigel Cass, World Rugby's Competitions Director, at the Africa Women’s Sevens has further raised hopes of the HSBC Sevens Series returning to Nairobi.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Creative Economy and Sports reiterated its unwavering support for rugby, citing Kenya’s proven ability to host world-class sporting events. 

The government expressed its dedication to working with the KRU to strengthen talent pathways and position Kenya as a premier destination for international rugby competitions.

This renewed collaboration marks an important step forward for Kenyan rugby and the sports sector at large. 

With aligned support from Rugby Africa, World Rugby, and the Kenyan government, the country is well positioned to shine on the global stage.

The meeting between ministry officials and rugby leaders signals a new era of cooperation and development.
