The ceremonial game, which would be held annually, is being organised by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) in collaboration with the Bono Regional Coordinating Council and the Regional Football Association.
The game, which will be played at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro, will witness Division One side, Tano Bofoakwa and BA United, play the curtain-raiser.
The tournament aims to foster unity and community bonds as well as promote sports development in the region.
Speaking at the official launch of the game, the Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboah, announced that Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea would receive Gh¢40,000 each as appearance fee, while Boafoakwa Tano and BA United would also receive Gh¢20,000 each.
Mr. Akwaboah added that the winners would receive prizes ranging from trophies, medals, and cash, saying that the tournament would help strengthen community bonds as well as unearth football talents. The cup, he explained, symbolises discipline, teamwork, and values essential for building strong communities and a progressive region.
Mr. Akwaboah commended GHALCA for their dedication and foresight in conceptualising the tournament, saying the Association’s commitment in advancing domestic football and supporting clubs was evident through its initiatives.
The Chairman of GHALCA, Mr. John Ansah, commended the Bono Region for taking the lead in launching the tournament and pledged GHALCA’s commitment in supporting sports development in the region.
