The Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has announced plans to redevelop the Makola Government Clinic into a modern four-storey facility to enhance healthcare delivery for traders and market women in the Central Business District.
He said the project was part of the government’s commitment to upgrading critical public health infrastructure to meet the growing needs of residents and businesses in the metropolis.
Mr Allotey made the announcement on Tuesday, August 12, during a working visit to inspect ongoing and abandoned projects across the city.
“I have observed that the facility is not in a good state,” he stated, adding that the redeveloped clinic would be fully equipped to provide quality healthcare services.
The Administrative Manager of the Makola Government Clinic, Natasha N. A. Addo, welcomed the initiative, noting it would significantly improve service delivery and create a better working environment for staff.
Other facilities visited included the Jamestown abattoir and Accra Sempe School.
